The Minnesota Wing maintains museum displays in several different forms. Our home base of operations is a museum all by itself: One of the few surviving original WWII hangars, the building looks very much like it did during the beginning of WWII when it was built by the Navy.

Our hangar not only protects and displays our aircraft, but also houses numerous original artifacts which are always on display. We also maintain and restore a growing fleet of military and civilian vehicles which can be seen at the hangar and also at parades or special events.

The museum is normally open the following days when we perform maintenance on our aircraft. However, please call to check on whether the hangar will be open later that day, or on other days of the week:

Historic Vintage VehiclesNot only interested in aircraft, the Minnesota Wing maintains a number of rare and interesting vehicles, ranging from trucks to staff cars to jeeps.
Artifact DisplaysThe Minnesota Wing has been collecting WWII artifacts since its first day as a Wing in 1971. We have been collecting aircraft and crew artifacts, rare equipment, home front items, uniforms and other personal items. These are placed on permanent display in our hangar and are occasionally rotated to display new items.
Our HangarBuilt in 1941 by the U.S. Navy, Fleming Field (then known as Hookem Cow Field) was turned into a base to train Navy pilots on carrier take-off and landing techniques. The Navy built six quonset style hangars, numbered 2-7 (#1 already existed at that time) and used them to house their N3N “yellow peril’s”. Thousands trained at Fleming Field and these hangars played a vital role. All of the hangars built by the Navy still exist, along with two barracks. These are turning into rare sites, with most of the WWII era buildings being torn down for newer construction.
Our Aircraft FleetAnd of course, our main reason for being: the aircraft of our fleet. The Minnesota Wing restores, maintains and flies several aircraft including the B-25 Mitchell, PBY Catalina, P-51C Mustang and several trainer and liaison aircraf
